How many teeth do children have?

Children have 20 baby teeth – 10 on the top and 10 on the bottom. These teeth act as placeholders for the adult teeth that grow in after the baby teeth fall out.

Adults have more teeth than children. Most adults have 32 teeth, including four canines, eight incisors, eight premolars, and 12 molars (as well as four wisdom teeth).
